We go to this place in the city on Elizabeth St. called Coconut House every once in a while.  I'd say it's in our top 5 favorite restaurants right now; delicious, reasonably priced Malaysian food and you get to sit outside and watch tourists walk by.  People watching is half the fun of going to the city.

We hadn't even ordered our food and these scruffy little vultures were already hovering.

We took my Mom and Bob here when they visited in April and Bob described this food as
"Anthony Bourdain level stuff."

I usually order this.  Fried chicken on top of noodles and sauce with some pork mincey stuff.
If it comes in a bowl with a bunch of bits to mix together, it's good with me.

Three layers of iced goodness: tea, milk, and cane syrup (I think?).

Clementine was content watching the sun in the leaves of the tree next to our table.
She loves being out of the house.

The hoards circled.

Gah, love these two!!!  I think they especially look alike in this picture.

The birds helped themselves the second we stood up from the table.  Half cute, half gross.

...Not included in the pictures is the wafting scent of hot garbage on the wind.

On the train home, Clementine pondered deep things and chewed on her hand.

A Walk to the Station

Something I'm especially excited about using this space for is showing off more of where we live and what we do to those we don't get to see all the time.  I've grown progressively hesitant to overshare on facebook (probably since around the time that we moved to Melbourne).  I don't know, I guess I feel a bit shy?  Alec also said "you don't post stories on facebook, it's just one thing."  So maybe that's why too.  I'm also considering it practice for our upcoming trip to America where I hope to actually take pictures this time!!!  My Mom gives me crap about this regularly, so you know... Hi Mom :)

Alec is on holiday from work for the two weeks over Christmas and New Years and we are all loving having him at home for the extra family time.  Going to the city for some lunch is one of our favorite ways to break up the day and get some sunshine.  It takes less than 30 minutes and there are so so many little scenes of things to see along the way.

We live in Melbourne, the city is divided into "suburbs" or what we'd just call neighborhoods.  We live in Thornbury and we absolutely love it.  It's beautiful and interesting and we can walk to or take public transport to mostly everything.

Metal Dad

I especially love the houses.  These are Victorian style and they are extremely common in Melbourne.

I only felt mildly creepy taking pictures of my neighbor's houses.

Waiting for the train.

METAL!!!!! victory poses while waiting at the station (expect this to be a theme too)

Our lazy Saturday evening.  Lately our favorite thing to do is sit around and make faces at Clementine. She sure loves her Daddy, he makes the best noises in the house. Alec played on his computer and we distracted him a bit.  The light was very nice with the coming clouds outside, even Molly and Mimi attended.

I can't imagine a nicer way to spend the evening.
